The idea, that we should organize a golf championship in connection with a social event, where the invitees are prominent representants of the Hungarian business community, was born in 2001. The purpose of the event was to get acquinted with the beauty of golfing without any strings attached, as at that time there stood only a few golf courses at disposal in the country and the whole sport was tainted with mistaken prejudicies. Mr. László Hovánszky, the father of the original idea (and also the vice president of the Birdland Golf & Country Club) kindly undertook the role of main patron for the whole organisation.Today, the circle of invitees consists of already practicing players and beginners as well, or of those who are just interested - including their respective family members. Initially both sponsors, supporters, advertisers and their guests arrived mainly from the FMCG area, since this was an invitee only event. Then from year 2006 and onwards, still by invitation only, various market leading companies were to be represented by their principals and top managers. These firms might be: banks, head hunters, IT companies, property and advertising agencies, excecutive training consultants, telco firms, leading vehicle manufacturers, big spedition companies, airlines, etc.

The venue:

Right from the start, the venue of the event is the Birdland Golf & Country Club at Bükfürdő, which was the first championship golf course in Hungary when opened in 1991. Besides of these superb quality golfing facilities, Birdland has a wonderful natural setting too. As another investment on behalf of the owners of the course, the 5 star Radisson SAS Hotel (today: Greenfield Hotel Golf & Spa) was opened in 2004, providing further leisure options with swimmingpools and other welness programs.

The agenda of the event:

The championship, which is also a social day, takes place once every year at the end of the Spring, during the last week-end of May, or the first week-end of June.The Championship itself start on Saturday morning for good golfers. On the first day of this two day event, we try to please our guests with popular programs with respect to golfing, such as training, a tour of the course and Rabbit competition for absolute beginners. Besides of golfing programs, there are numerous other entertainment possibilities for our guests. During last years we arranged for archery demo and trainings, air soft ball shooting, racing simulator, hot air ballooning, helicopter flight and quad trial among others. For kids we provided rubber castle, electric cars, face painting and rodeo bull. For ladies we organized cosmetic treatments, make-up consultancy, fortune teller and jewellery presentation. Every year we have an automobile sponsor as well, enriching our program with test drives in luxury cars. We have also had Old Timer exhibits and yacht displays. At the 15th Anniversary, for the first time in Hungary, we even managed to stage a horse polo match with Argentinian guest players. And during daytime, our guests are catered for with food and drink products provided by our sponsors in a buffet tent.

Evening programs:

The evening starts with the very successful coctail party lead by the well-known András Lajsz in the bar. The high spirits are further enhanced by a live music band every year. Afther all this, the full-dress dinner party takes place, during which the trophies are handed out, and all winners in each categories receive valuable gifts. The night is closed with fashion show, raffles, and fire works.

Guest Land Program:

Since 2013 we invite a special country in the frame of our Guest Land Program, that may introduce itself with respect to its most outstanding achievements and features in the field of business, culture, travel and gastronomy. Thus we have had from these guest countries musicians, folk dancers and experts of martial art sas well. The countries in this program were India, Indonesia, The Republic of Korea, Brazil and Marocco.

As the participants are the principals, directors and top managers of international companies, big domestic businesses and the representatives of foreign firms, this event provides an excellent opportunity to any undertaking that may offer any service or merchandise for these. Also, those companies with exclusive products and services may here extend their circle of customers.
